Katarina Witt started to ice skate at the age five years old. Her natural talents became more apparent her admission was granted to a Karl-Marx-Stadt school that is geared towards children who have a athletic talent. This was where she met their coach Jutta Muller. Witt finished second at the World Championships of Copenhagen in 1982. It was her first appearance. In the years since, Witt's elegance and grace have caught all the attention of people. Olympic success Katarina Wit was awarded gold medals in women's ice skating during Sarajevo Winter Games 1984. The crowd was captivated by her despite the fact that she placed seventh. In 1995, Witt was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
